Huddle achieves FedRAMP Authority to Operate (ATO)

18 April 2015

Huddle's US instance of its government and enterprise cloud collaboration service has been granted FedRAMP Authority to Operate (ATO) by USAID. With this ATO, Huddle will be able to further support US government agencies by providing a single secure platform in the cloud for everyone inside and outside of an organization to share files, manage projects and work together. By doing so, Huddle will enable government agencies to improve efficiency and drive greater productivity.

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a US government-wide program that was launched to accelerate the adoption of secure cloud services. It provides a uniform approach to security assessments and authorizations and the application of existing security practices to ensure agencies have confidence in their secure cloud suppliers.

Being awarded FedRAMP ATO strengthens Huddle’s already impressive government credentials. The company was the first cloud collaboration service to be pan government accredited at IL2 for UK government and Huddle is one of the most successful Software-as-a-Service suppliers on the G-Cloud Framework. Huddle’s government customers include 80 percent of central UK government departments, NASA, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the National Institutes for Health, which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“Security is of the utmost importance to government organizations and it’s an honor that our cloud collaboration service has met FedRAMP’s rigorous standards,” said Morten Brøgger, CEO, Huddle. “Working closely with USAID and the FedRAMP PMO, we’ve ensured that the US Federal Government can now use our cloud collaboration service to solve the real issue being faced by organizations today: working together more effectively. Either replacing or extending legacy platforms such as SharePoint, Huddle enables teams across federal agencies – not connected by a common infrastructure – to securely share and collaborate on content. As the first cloud collaboration company to receive FedRAMP accreditation, we’re looking forward to helping agencies across US federal government manage key programs, such as shared services and outsourcing projects, and significantly increase productivity and efficiency. The ability to securely share and discuss documents, such as audits and board papers, is set to help federal agencies achieve their goals.”

“For all cloud service providers, it’s critical to demonstrate adherence to FedRAMP’s set of baseline security controls and consistent processes to provide services to the Federal government,” said Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP Director at the US General Services Administration. “Gaining a FedRAMP authorization through USAID demonstrates that Huddle’s cloud collaboration service meets the rigorous requirements of FedRAMP.”

"Rapid adoption of 'consumer' apps for personal productivity will continue,” says Vanessa Thompson, Research Director, Enterprise social networks and collaborative technologies, IDC. "FedRAMP ATO for Huddle means more US federal agencies are able to meet dynamic user needs while at the same time delivering against process and security control requirements."
